Amazingly, The Lion King shows no signs of slowing down, with it pulling on $4.3 million for the week ending January 1, 2023, the largest weekly gross in the history of Broadway.Īlong with the long-running show in New York, there is also a traveling tour that hits major cities across North America. The show has seen over 9,000 performances on Broadway since opening in 1997, with its current run taking place at the Minskoff Theatre. The Lion King is the most successful Broadway musical of all time in terms of the highest gross.
